Do I own to Prove It?
We are going to buy a used car today and are trading within our brand new truck...our insurance is due, I dont conjecture it has lapsed but, but it may have. We do enjoy current insurance cards that dont expire until November 08. As long as we show these cards to the sales personage and they copy that, are they going to call and craft sure that we have it? Do we hold to put insurance on the new coup¨¦ and show that we have insurance on it? Or do they merely take the current insurance card and copy it and assume we enjoy it?
Please help, gratefulness so much!
No, they probably won't call upon.
BUT, you know what you're doing is lying, right? Fraud, right? And it's going to catch up to you, because the lender for the tentative car is going to require a copy of the policy be sent to them - effctive the light of day you drive the new coup¨¦ off the lot. Which you won't know how to do.
Then they put forced placement coverage on it, for $500 a month, if you're lucky, ON TOP of your payment. And you find repo'd.
Unless, of course, you crack one of these up, while you're driving uninsured. Then you've get 5 or 6 years of payment, and no vehicle.
This is faint, and it's not HONEST. But hey, maybe you're not Christian, and don't diligence about man truthful. I don't know you.
1) Trade BRAND NEW truck? If you own financed, I am sure you have remunerated up and current "full" insurance. If you don't, I am sure that the bank or the insurance company will inform you.
2) In most cases, the used vehicle lot will take the proof you enjoy, unless it is financed. Most of the time you have a grace spell, (usually 2-4 week) to notify the insurance company of any changes.
3) In any case, MOST states require you to hold paid up insurance. (it's the law) You can not register it.-
4) If you live within a state that does not require insurance, and you have the vehicle financed, the bank will require it.

Answers: Depending on the dealership and the local laws within your area, they are required to confirm that the insurance is valid and that the policy covers the vehicle individual purchased before you can drive it sour the lot.
With that said it doesn't mean that nation don't purchase policies and then put an end to or have the binder premium check bounce (which invalidates the policy) after they go and get the vehicle..so technically the vehicle was covered when the dealership checked. However, you should get hold of a policy as soon as possible to protect you and your passengers within the event of an accident or if your vehicle is dog-eared in a hit-and-run or by an uninsured motorist. It protects you financially and will relieve to ensure that once you aren't out the full amount and if you have glorious enough restrictions could even provide you with money to purchase another vehicle.
As others stated, if nearby is financing involved the bank or credit coalition will require proof of insurance on the vehicle for a that will need to hug to at least their required minimum coverage boundaries and lists them as a lienholder on the policy. Banks will check on it regularly (at lowest possible once a year). If they find that the policy is no longer in force on the strange vehicle, they will send you a message requesting proof of coverage within a dependable timeframe or they will be within their rights to embezzle out a policy on the vehicle and apply the premium to your loan. If the bank does embezzle out the policy, you will be paying a much higher premium for the policy than if you find your own policy - so if you do take that letter I'd contact an insurance agent surrounded by your area or jump online to insurance quote website to find a policy just to gather yourself money.
Also, if you do have financing and hold listed the ridge as the lienholder, if the policy is cancled for any reason the insurance company is responsible for notify any and all lienholders planned that coverage is no longer in force. So once that happen, you will definitely gain that letter within the mail requesting proof of your fresh policy.
Good luck on your purchase and be careful.
They will not check because they don't care. They will assume that you are a responsible fully fledged and will just copy your insurance card. This will bring them off the hook for any liability if you take in an quirk. The police, however, will check. You better make sure that you call for your insurance agent and transfer the policy to the tentative car and retribution any money due.
