Auto Insurance policy change?
Would a auto insurance company be able to tell if you changed your deductibles after a wreck or comprehensive smash up? If you changed it and then waited a couple of days or a week from enunciate, 1000 to 500$ and then filed the claim. Do they check for recent change in policy coverages?
That is called insurance fraud and that can win you about ten years in prison, don't try it. They will fashion you pay the deductible that was surrounded by effect the day you wrecked. Seriously, don't try this, insurance agents, adjusters, and claim representatives aren't stupid.
You can transform your deductible and file a claim. However, if the accident happen on 5/1, you would pay what your deductible was on 5/1. You can't fine-tuning your deductible, then wait a few days to folder the claim and expect the insurance company to honor your new deductible.
You bet they do. Claims made right after policy issue or changes are a yellow flag for fraud.
This is fraud and against the law and you can bet on anyone caught.
Answers: Most companies do check for recent policy changes when a claim is made. If it is a drastic transmutation, like lowering deductible or adding auxiliary coverage that will cause some suspision. Also if a police report was file it will tell them when the loss happened or if its hailstones damage or something they will check the local weather bureau for reports of hail. Most companies wont push for insurance fraud claims (and transport you to prison) for that though. They will just apply the correct coverage or higher deductible.
