In my experience I would say that National Grange Mutual and The Hartford are great companies to write business for.
None, go work for a broker... that way you dont have to sell just one company. You find the best insurance for your client.
I worked for Farmers Insurance and I also woked for State Farm. They are both very different and it depends on what you are looking for from your job. I think that if you need really dtrong structure, for example someone telling you exactly what to do try State Farm. Also if you are a very safe person your self and you would not take any high risk people try state farm if you are the opposite try farmers.

The best thing to do is work on your own and work through a General Agent (GA) because all you have to do is sell and they will do all the work and you would get the same commission as if you were going direct.
