how long can first consideration medical bills come contained by after the service have taken place?

My grandfather died in sept. 2004. I am still getting medical bills (first notice, not past due or anything) within the mail.
I want to know when i can lawfully start to ignore them..if ever. (same mail address and contanct info as when he died so they can't claim we have be avoiding them.)

for services rendered.
Are you the executor of the estate? The physician's office should be directed to that personage. Is the physician even aware that the person is departed? They should be told. Some physician offices will ask for copy of the demise certificate for validation. If the bill is coming from a collection agency, then the 5 year rule that be mentioned previously would apply.
