Insurance Agent Test?
Is The Texas Insurance Agent License hard ?
It's pretty basic, but it covers a lot of info. I know people that have failed many times, and I know people that have breezed right through.
Here's my general impression: if you have an appointment from a company or agency (you need this), then they probably think you are capable. This may not necessarily be true. I've found that the folks that have worked in insurance for a few years usually have enough base knowledge to do it.
The IIAT (Independent Insurance Agents of Texas) have a terrific study guide you can purchase.
Hehe, I haven't taken it yet, my boss is really ticked at me for being lazy.
Assuming you mean P&C licensing.....
I took a Virginia test, but there probably isn't much difference. 2.5 years ago on a Monday morning, I had no idea whatsoever about insurance. I had 2 days of class, and by Thursday morning I took my test and passed. What helped me most? After reading over the material a couple times, I had a printed practice test with answers...I went through the test and highlighted the TRUE statements rather than the right answers. Then I studied that rather than the material, over and over.
Example: "Which of the following are not covered under Comprehensive on an auto policy: 1. fire 2. theft 3. impact with an animal 4. medical payments." I would highlight "covered under comprehensive: fire, theft, impact with an animal." That way you are only filling your head with true statements.
You really need to read your questions well before answering, the test is full of "what is not included under such and such coverage" or "which is not an exclusion under such and such" and twisted up questions like that. It's probably 60% test taking ability and 40% knowledge in my opinion.
Now if I could only make myself take that first underwriter's test....
Good Luck!
Just like any other state. I did not think so...
They're all about the same. You DO have to study, even if you've been in the insurance business a couple years - it's all those penaltys and licensing regulations, in addition to coverages.
