How many people use an insurance agent verses getting insurance on the internet?

Definately use an agent... I work for an insurance agent, but even before I used a local agent.. To me it is much easier, most companies have websites set up where u can go online pay your bill or view your account now anyways.. Atleast " FARMERS" does!! But, u also have the comfort of knowing u can pick up the phone and there will be someone ready to answer your questions or help in anyway!!
I use an agent because they search for the best coverage and payment plan for me. They know what I really need and don't need for coverage.
I went to Zurich online and got my life insurance and very pleased with the results. If an agent actually does work for you, that's ok, but mostly they take a commission and don't do anything beneficial. Agents here won't agree, bc they only get commissions when you buy and pay those premiums. I had terrific service from Zurich. As to the health insurance, I like using the advocate where my husband works bc she has clout.

I *am* an agent, and I ALWAYS use an agent. I never use an agent where I work, under the theory that I don't ** in my own bed. so to speak.

I would NEVER go directly - because I want that resource to call on, if I have a problem and need a favor.
The price is the same, so I went with a local insurance broker.

I figured I'd rather have somebody local that could help me with all the paperwork and stuff....I also managed to have my agent pick up the lunch tab.
Most of the companies over the internet, are agencies- interestingly enough most are not owned by American's, a very large health insurance company (internet) is owned by a very wealthy Japanese young man who is in his 20's, if you go to his site it is all in english and his company sells hundreds of plans everyday. My advice consumers to use the internet but always use a local agent or local health insurance company, if you have a problem how will you locate your agent if you have a problem on saturday nite?.. I am a local agent and my clients come by my home on weekends to ask questions, I think it is great to have them visit- neighborhood agents are still the best in my opinion.
