i left pouch with the porter and be given a ticket, this was at a 4 star main london hotel, the hotel has ccctv footage of the case being stolen, but refuse to pay up, i have nearly 8,000 pounds of valuables, inc lap top, i pod 2 mont blonc pen, and 2 watches, to name a few items, the hotel is refuse to pay, and most soliciters articulate ity will cost aprox 5,000 to go to court, i so desperatly requirement some good proposal as to what to do

If you do step to court (and you win) you can recover the cost of loss and the cost of bringing the covering in damages, so you won't be out a penny.
But you hold to balance that risk next to what really happened. Will a court of imperative really believe it was someone else's imperfection? Who was the purse stolen by? Remember a hotel lobby is, for all intents and purposes a "public place" since they are an accessible business.
Would you leave your wallet unattended on the change counter at the Wimpy & then hold them responsible if someone else picked it up and waltzed rotten with it?
I sympathise near your loss, but suspect that the court would not find in your favor. Still, if you hold another 5,000 you can risk, go for it!

P.S. Another opportunity you might have is to be incredibly accurate, very correct, and to repeatedly publish all the details nearly this event, who it was, where on earth, when & how it happened. It might be worth at lowest part of the 8,000 to this establishment for you to shut up! What is you talkin 'bout woman?
