if i buy stock for 40 dollars and it go down to 30, i deal in, where on earth dies the $10 i lost move about?

Answers:
For every share sold, there is a share bought;
for every retailer, there is a buyer.
The money that you lost might own gone to a short-seller who first sold the stock at $40 and then bought it support at $30, or it might have gone to somebody who bought the stock at $30 and will (in the future) provide the stock at $40. (By the way - the company itself might own been the buyer!)
Bottom vein is that the $10 did NOT go INTO your pocket, it come OUT of your pocket!

It lies with the company....

To the person that bought it for $20 and sold it for $30. no where on earth.. you just made a unpromising investing decision. you should of bought more stocks and after sell when price is better than when you bought it.
