Who would i talk to to apply for this job?
Hurricane season is coming up and its showing signs of being an active one. I know that insurance company's have to send people out to document the destruction as it applies to individual policy holders. Does any1 know what they are called or if its easy to become one? Hmmmm?
I think that's an insurance adjuster and I believe you need to take a test and be licensed first. You may need to wait for next year's hurricane season before you qualify but they always need people for car accidents and break-ins etc.
They're called field inspectors. If you do insurance loss you have to have some training in that.

Um, they're called ADJUSTERS. You have to get a license to be one, in whatever state you want to adjust claims. You have to have training and pass a test to get a license. THEN you have to buy e&o insurance, if you want to work for yourself, or convince an adjusting firm to hire you, or an insurance company to hire you.
Your best bet is to contact a few of the major insurance companies and speak to their human resources department or their employment department and tell them exactly what you said here. Most companies will take the time and be polite about answering questions. Or if you have auto insurance or homeowners insurance call your insurance person and talk to them.

Insurance adjusters. The company I work for hires them off the street and puts them through a 12 week training program. Most candidates have a college degree or equivalent experience. Other candidates are current employees who are placed in the program due to merit. I'm sure most adjusters are trained in a similar fashion. Adjusters with experience can go to work for independent risk management companies. When a hurricane hits, this small army of insurance professionals go on the road and handle claims. You'll be stored is a glass box marked "break only in event of hurricane" ;)
They are called field adjusters. It is not difficult to become an adjuster in most states. Some states require licensure to be an adjuster of any type. Some require a license to be an independent adjuster who is hired as an independent contractor by insurance companies. And other states don't even have a licensing process for adjusters.
