If it's former the cancellation date, it's lapsed. The termination date is the date it's cancelled.
It really depends on your insurance company and your State mandates that govern the see of your policy for non-payment of premium. Depending on how long you enjoy had the policy, number of monthly payments already made, how oodles left, etc.
