Biten by a dog, unprovoked.Any idea of monetary compensation from insurance? Just curious?

A few weeks ago I was attacked by an Akita dog. My arm was biten 5 times with several puncture wounds, no tearing or mangling. I am curious to know what the insurance company is going to offer for a settlement and should I take the first offer. There will be scarring and trauma involved. Give me some examples if anything has ever happened to you! Thanks
You'll get medical bills for sure, but for five puncture wounds on an arm . . . that's not exactly disfiguring, ya know?? Unless you're an arm model or something for a living?? I'd be surprised if they offered you $500 for the scarring - if they do, take it! You won't get much if you end up suing in court.

Just count yourself lucky that the Akita's owner had homeowners insurance to cover the dog attack!! Most viscious dog owners don't, in my experience . . .
Medical bills and price for the pain and loss of working day
It varies from state to state. Usually, if this is the first time the dog bit someone, there's not much money coming from the insurance company. However, if the doggie has a habit of doing that, then it's worth more.

As to values, go to your local law library. It's probably near the court house. There are some "jury verdict" books there, which are identified by what caused the injury, and then what the injury was. It will give you some ranges.

Takes a little work, but the value of your claim would be determined by a jury. If you want to conclude the claim yourself, then find out the jury verdits in your area for a similiar situation and injury, and then divide it by 2 or 3 since you won't be hiring and attorney, experts, trial expenses, etc.
One of my clients pit bull attacked another person in a similar situation. The insurance company can be very generous in this situation if you play it right. You can be compensated for any real financial loss you had directly resulting from the attack. For example: Medical Bills, Lost time from Work, Pain Management and scarring, any out of the ordinary expense that may be involved. It does not sound like there will be any disability involved if it is healing properly. Do not take the first offer from the insurance company unless it seems reasonable based on the expenses and time you have dealt with from the situation. We paid out Medical Expense Coverage of $5000 which was the max on the policy as well as another $1500 for pain and suffering. Good Luck to you
