Answers:
I am an teacher of English as a Foreign Language and so the first connection that occurs to me is in courses in Business English. An English teacher uses basic knowledge of linguistics to explain grammar to their students (international managers, etc. who need to learn English for their jobs), for example. The other area where this connection could come up is in research. Academics are always looking for new research topics so they can be the pioneers in some new area that hasn“t been explored by others yet. So for example someone could do a research project on the special lingo used by insurance professionals or the type of language used in insurance brochures. Good luck with your article!
Well, sure. Insurance is CONTRACT. Contracts are WRITTEN. IN LANGUAGE, which is linguistics. In order to understand what you're buying, you have to be pretty fluent at a pretty high grade level, to interpret the policy language.
