Unfortunately your Governor, Charlie Crist, has really screwed things up for your state when it comes to insurance. Mbrcatz is right, you'll have to go through the State's Insurance. It's under funded and over priced, but it's your only choice right now.

Some? Honey, I don't know of ANYONE in Florida who will give you insurance, EXCEPT the state Fair plan. It's not you - it's Florida.

So if you're contacting direct writers - state farm, allstate, nationwide, etc, all you're going to hear is no. If you contact an INDEPENDENT agent, you'll get Citizens, Fair plan, and NFIP for flood.

It's NOT CHEAP. In the rest of the country, you can get a basic renters policy for about $150 a year. In Florida, expect to pay about $500. And you buy wind damage seperate from flood damage, seperate from everything else damage.
