Anyone know if pregnancy is considered a pre existing condition according to NH health insurance companies?

My friend's sister is 8 months pregnant and has no had prenatal care. Her new job is telling her the health insurance did kick in but that the pregnancy and delivery won't be covered. I looked on a few websites and I thought pregnancy was NOT considered pre-existing. Any help would be appreciated.
It's absolutely a pre-existing condition. She got pregnant BEFORE the insurance kicked in.
Pregnancy is not considered an illness but it is considered by some to be a curse

If she is working for a company that employs between 2 and 50 people, pregnancy cannot be considered a pre-existing condition as a part of the Federal Laws of HIPAA. If they have more than 50 employees, that does not apply, but, most companies over 50 have no pre-existing exclusions for any employees anyway.

Tell your sister to call the number on the ID card and ask them, not the employer. They know the laws and the conditions of the policy if it is a larger group.
She is 8 months pregnant and has had NO prenatal care? That is outrageous! It is neglectful of her and irresponsible to say the least. I don't care if she could not get insurance. There are other options out there. Medicaid, WIC as well as other state funded Healthy start programs. There is no excuse for her inactions. I hope she has a healthy baby in spite of her stupidity.
I think it is possible

Answers:
Yes it is a pre existing condition according to some insurance companies.

She could get state/government insurance for the delivery and for her child. Each state offers some kind of helthy start insurance for kids who do not have medical insurace. It is medicaid. But much better then her ending up with a 10,000 hospital bill.
