Do I enjoy to report non-taxable benefits compensated underneath a long permanent status disability plan on my child's OSAP application
The premiums were salaried 100% by the employee. OSAP is the student assistance plan contained by Ontario.
Answers: The answer is yes. The LTD benefit payments you receive are to cover your lost wages due to the disability. You would want to report this to OSAP because this is money that you are receiving; and so it would show how much you are actually earn.
I would recommend following this rule of thumb when you are required to report your earnings:
Tell them everything! Let them know of any income or benefit payments that you are acceptance. It is better to be safe than sorry. If it is key for them to know, and you intentionally do not tell them, that could put a damper on the situation. Especially within this case, since the LTD is a wage replacement benefit. If you did not report this income to them, it would look close to you aren't earning any money to OSAP, and that would definitely be incorrect. =)
