What is the biggest insurance company in the world?
Either The Winterthur conglomerate or AXA Grp.
These are two Euro based Insurance Holding companies which own many sub Companies in the US. Each of them compile about a trillion in assets alone. I think Axa is bigger.
By number of policies written? AMount of reserves? Amount of premiums taken in? Largest number of employees? Most claims paid?
Kinda a vague question.
Answers:
Globally, AXA Group is the leading insurer by revenue and one of the oldest, founded in France in 1816. It has $956 billion in assets under management and has spent the last five years ramping up brokerage, wealth management and advisory services. It's trying to make a global name for itself as a full-service wealth manager-not just the French insurance company it's been for almost two centuries.
