Question to all life insurance agents?
i have a question to all life insurance agents! i am curently enrolled in prelicencing classes. i will take the exam next week. however, i wonder what kind of job is that?? i dont know anybody who do this kind of job. i would like to know how many of you are satisfied with what you do. also, how much money i can make per week? how much people are willing to sign the insurance agreement? will i be happy with what i do comparing to being a cashier or babysitter? will i survived with my earnings only from this source, from being the agent? thanks for all informative comments and advices!!
It sounds to me that this is not the job for you if you are comparing it to babysitting and being a cashier.
Insurance is a professional business. You have to work hard and persevere to make a living - nobody will run to you with their money.
Why are you doing this? Go back to working at your local grocer as a cashier - this is not the right profession for you.
Sorry.

well, if you do the right thing and replace the trash value with term and learn why , you can earn an unlimited income. dont let any cash value insurance guy sway you in any way. I replace the bad guys insurace with the best term.
99 times out of 100, it's a straight sales job. It's HARD to sell enough people to live off your commission. 90% of life insurance salesmen quit. Many never sell a single policy.
Most people who really WANT life insurance, already have it - you have to MAKE your market, and convince people about it.
It's silly to think in terms of "how much a week". Most sales guys get paid once a month - 2 months AFTER the sale.
If your alternatives are "cashier" or "babysitter", you're NOT going to make it. This is NOT an hourly wage type of job - you need DRIVE and STAMINA and you need to be able to take A LOT of rejection. The vast majority of people who make it, put in 80 to 100 hour weeks, for the first several YEARS. People who do "cashier" or "babysitter" don't, in my experience, want to work that hard.
I like insurance but not LIFE insurance. I like property casualty, and I've moved over to primarily commercial lines only. I do life only as a "courtesy" when people ask, which is why I can afford to recommend term, LOL.
Anyway. If you put in the hours, your first year you'll probably make $30K to $40K, IF YOU PUT IN THE HOURS. Most people don't. It's hard making 200 cold calls a day, day after day. It's NOT fun. Rejection STINKS. It's HARD working evenings and weekends, along with days. But that's when people will be able to meet with you. So you have to do it, if you want to sell. You'll have to go to them.
Good luck.
