I wrote an article on insurance agencies on my blog, you may find it helpful.
A honest starting point for you is do you want a sales occupation. The rewards are great, the risks are greater. The biggest risks I find in Insurance and Real Estate are finding honest, very well meaning citizens to work for. So many ethnic group wash out that bosses tend to own short term view of the people who work for them and look after themselves first.
Ask yourself how are you going to attract 300 those a year to make yourself a successful agent? If you own a good answer, travel for it. No guts, no Glory.
The biggest grill for you is how much money do you have to net right now. Insurance agents construct very worthy money once the business is established. However, 80% of new agents come to nothing within the first three years because they necessitate more money than they can generate initially. If you can go three years making $20,000 - $30,000 per year, later the long term benefits of insurance is excellent. If you cannot live beside this income level, later you are probably better off looking for something else.
Try getting a job near an agency, both real estate and insurance, to see if that's what you want to do.
Insurance and real estate are both tough businesses to carry a start in if you involve immediate income. It take time to establish yourself in any business. If you have a year or so to draw from established, both offer perfect opportunities to put together good money. Both involve developing relationships and working on referral. It just depends on what you delight in.
