The lowest I know of is about $50,000, and the highest was about $250,000 plus bonuses, trips and a major title. That was for the head of the actuary dept for a health company I worked for recently.

Like most any department position in an Insurance company you have a matter of time in service and ranking. ie: Junior Actuary, Senior Actuary and mgr.

Basically this technical position is important and typically companies like the more experienced people and salary could be any where from $$45,000 to $100,000 as a head of a unit. It is a good/safe occupation. and secure if you do a good job. "Math is not my thing" so it also takes a"special individual to sit all day punching #'s
