Texas medicaid?

i live in texas and im only 17 (i will 18 next month) im 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and i need to get on medicaid


1.i do have health insurance with my parents (it will run out when i turn 18)

2.my parents dont know about the pregnancy and im keeping it that way so i can get my apartment and keep my car till next month

so if im still living with my parents and have insurance do you think i can still get medicaid?? i mean i cant use my health insurance or my parents WILL find out...or should i just wait and apply when i turn 18?

I'd just wait until you turn 18. Four more weeks isn't going to matter much - just be sure you're taking supplemental folic acid. If you go see an ob once a month, you're parents will SEE that you're going to a doctor once a month. OTOH, this isn't exactly something you're going to be able to hide forever, you know??

First off, I want to tell you how grown up and responsible you sound. I know you are in a tough position but you sound llike you are on the right track.

As for the medicaid I would suggest you wait to apply until you are 18 and are no longer on your parents' insurance. It will be easy to qualify for Texas Medicaid at that point. I would also think about when and how you will let your parents know. You are going to need some help and support, and perhaps they will be able to provide that.
