What would be cheaper on insurance for a 16 year mature boy a 1973 opel 4 cylinder coup or a 1995 chevy blazer?

well im 16 i get my license surrounded by a month and i have 3 cars to pick from but i want to get the cheapest on insurance and gas do i definitaly didnt want the 5.8 liter lincolon so it be between a 1973 opel manta 4 cylinder (great on gas 36mpg) or a 1995 chevy blazer suv 2wd (not so great on gas ) but i wanted to know which would be better for insurance the blazer has abs and airbags and the opel have neither.
Call your insurance company...they should detail you.
Since you are merely 16, you need to be insured on your parent(s)' insurance policy since you are too young to sign a contract - and an insurance policy IS a contract.

If you are going to insure for liability simply - either vehicle SHOULD be the same price. Now, some companies might NOT want to insure the '73 Opel Manta as they may touch that it is too old to meet sanctuary requirements.

But then you have to look at the "cool" factor! My son have a '72 Opel GT - now THAT'S cool!

Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!

Answers:    The liability would be the same on both vehicles. Neither would requirement comp or collision unless they are financed. Even though you might think the Blazer would need the coverage it's attraction is only $2000 - $2500; at your age you'd spend that much on comp and collision over a couple of years so it's not cost effective.

Actually, depending upon the condition the Opel might be worth more than the Blazer. It's at the classic auto age.
The opel is worth I don`t know a few 100 bucks. The blazer 1000's of bucks. Clearly the opel. You couldnt need to have full coverage because if the teen crashed it, its not worth fixing anyway.

I would pick the opel.
The opel should still be cheaper to insure because it is significantly older than the blazer.
The opel will be cheaper - be careful of course nearly lack of safety equipment surrounded by that car.
This is a really smart press to ask; insurance can be so expensive especially for teen drivers.

There are a number of places online where you can return with immediate quote. Try geico.com (ask parents first, duh, cuz they ask for birthdates and lots of personal information)

just because you attain your initial quotes there, you can still shop around for the best rate. We use amica insurance for everything and their rates are good and their customer service is excellent. You probably can bring back the best deal from the company that has your parents' auto policies already.
Between the 2 within wouldn't be that big of a difference on insurance at age 16 so go with the more economical one
Generally near vehicles of that age the liability coverage would be about duplicate. We switch out cars all the time and the premium does not change if the are liability solely.
