Water departed running upstairs by five year outdated, leak downstairs will home insurance settle?

We have home owners insurance, will it pay for the discharge repacing the ceiling... the entire ceiling is wet and leaking through standard lamp socket. Yes, we turned off the power.

Ahh. five year olds! He is a good boy, freshly dumb mistake.
No.

Water damage is covered, when it's a sudden and accidental plumbing leaching. Usually, overflow is NOT leakage. I'm betting this won't be covered.
well in that your kids ? do they lived with you ? or are they kids from another tenant. .

if they are your kids, Usually they wont cover it cause you be at fault, But if they are the tenants kids, Then you could bursting the paper works to get it inspected and repair.

Just read the policy to engineer sure you are cover.
Yep. No problem.

Take pictures so you can show them to the 18 year old. He probably will overlook what he did when he was five.

Enjoy the moment, buddy.

...and contact your agent.
To reiterate what Tom Z. said this will be covered. I have handle many claims like this over the years, although most of the time it is an full-grown that leaves the water running.

Answers:    I have to assume you have an HO-3 policy form which most folks do. That being the case your wet damage loss is covered subject to your deductible. Accidental discharge OR overflow from the plumbing system is specifically covered.
