My mom requests an mri on her leg. they say-so she make to much for medicaid and she have no ins. what can we do?
either a) get insurance; b) walk to the doctor and pay your bill when it comes due; or c) do nothing. Do you really estimate you have more options than that?
Try going to a county hospital or a teaching facility where the fees are base on a sliding scale or a reduced rate.
Chances are if she needs an MRI, she could necessitate treatment after the results. That way she could (hopefully) get tge medical attention she desires at a more affordable rate.
Try and see if your elected representatives has programs to help other relations.
Answers: There are programs to help with the cost of medical procedures. if medicaid can't aid try medicare. Also some hospitals have programs to do procedures like MRI's for free or at a reduced rate. check near the local senior friendship center (even if your mom is not old enough) if they can't help they may be capable of point you in the right direction. Also check the local hospital(s) Usually if they are non profit (or not for profit) they would be the best chance. You will hold to do some work to find them but it never hurts to ask...
