Home Owner's Insurance Claim Check?
I just file an insurance claim for my home. The invoices for the major work go straight to the insurance agent. My claim was for marine damage and plumbing. The insurance adjuster freshly contacted me and stated how much the claim was for and that he would be sending out a check to cover damages, as in good health as the list of claims etc. Will he also dispatch the invoices of the work that was done, because companies reported to my insurance adjuster. Will I be paying the company from the check we receive. Now i am wondering if this be a normal process.
Answers: You should ask the Contractors for copies of the invoices and what work exactly they did.
The insurance company have to pay you but I'll bet the check w sick be made out to you and the Contractor both. You'll be expected to endorse it and convey it to the Contractor.
Don't send it to them until you are completely self-satisfied with their work. It's regularly the only method to get them to come subsidise and fix something if it is needed.
It depends on how the adjustor works. If you haven't received a copyof the invoices, I think I would contact the company and ask them to please include a copy to you. That means of access you have a papertrail (beside the insuance claim) if near is a need for the contractor to correct his work.
